The Bath Soft Cheese Co.

Somerset, England

Cheese was made here as far back as 1914 but stopped during the middle of the century. Graham Padfield reintroduced cheese to the farm in 1993, with the discovery of a recipe found in an old book, for Bath Cheese; and so Bath Soft was born. Continuing the family tradition, Graham’s son, Hugh, is now at the helm, making a range of award-winning cheeses where once his great grandmother h ad made Cheddar.

The Bath Soft Cheese Co. has since gone from strength to strength, with Wyfe of Bath, The Merry Wyfe and Bath Blue being added to their impressive range, and they have won many awards including Supreme Champion at the World Cheese Awards for their Bath Blue.

  • BATH BLUE

    Cow Blue P
    Weight: 16.98lbs

Single cream and light vegetal notes. In 2014, Bath Blue was judged ‘Supreme Champion’ at the World Cheese Awards. The competition was fierce, with 2,600 cheeses from 33 countries vying for the top spot, but none could beat this brilliant blue.

  • BATH SOFT

    Cow Soft PG
    Weight: 8.8oz

Soft and yielding, with a creamy flavor. The cheese of choice for Admiral Lord Nelson and his family, having frequent references in their correspondence. The original recipe recommended using a feather to apply salt to the surface.

  • WYFE OF BATH

    Cow Hard PV
    Weight: 5.73lbs

A soft caramel colour, and a creamy and nutty flavor. Hand-made close to us with milk from the farm’s herd and originally named Beauty of Bath. We suggested ‘Wyfe of Bath’ because, in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the Wyfe had an insatiable appetite for pleasure.

  • THE MERRY WYFE

    Cow Washed Rind
    PV Weight: 10.5oz / 7.72lbs

A balanced fruity and savory flavor. Curds from the Wyfe of Bath are pressed, and then washed in cider produced by Graham Padfield from the apples grown in orchards on the family farm.

  • WYFE OF BATH (PRE-CUT & WRAPPED)

    Cow Hard PVG
    Weight: 8.8oz approx

A soft caramel colour, and a creamy and nutty flavor. Graham and Hugh Padfield cut portions of their renowned Wyfe of Bath, and pack them in parchment wrap. Perfect for your Grab & Go.
